Interim Mayor Ralph Severini is preparing to begin his first full term in Hideout in 2026. With his official tenure starting in January, he has already initiated plans aimed at addressing critical issues facing the town. Severini, who previously held a leadership role at Amazon Web Services, decided to focus entirely on his responsibilities as interim mayor after being appointed in the spring. Following his recent election victory, he is working towards resolving key objectives from his campaign. One of the primary concerns during the recent election was the town's legal and financial stability. Hideout is currently grappling with over $400,000 in legal expenses against a budget of $1.8 million. Severini has committed to tackling these legal challenges in the coming year. Notably, in November, the town settled a significant legal dispute with Mustang Development, LLC, which involved a payment of $600,000 related to impact fees. The settlement concluded without any admission of wrongdoing from either party. Additionally, Severini announced updates regarding the Silver Meadows project, spearheaded by Larry H. Miller Real Estate. This development aims to introduce a grocery store, retail services, and dining options to the area, with construction expected to commence soon. This commercial development has been a long-awaited initiative for residents and is anticipated to boost local revenue. Severini has emphasized the importance of improving safety within the town and along S.R. 248, citing past accidents and near-misses. His administration is collaborating with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to enhance signage and plans to create a four-way intersection at the junction of Shoreline Road and Mountain Boulevard. In terms of wildfire risk, Severini is also focused on making Hideout a firewise community, following new legislative requirements that mandate fire risk assessments in vulnerable areas. The town is proactively engaging residents in these assessments. Lastly, Severini aims to foster collaboration with neighboring municipalities to strengthen regional branding and enhance service quality for residents. He plans to leverage his corporate experience to improve community satisfaction and promote new development while maintaining safety and recreational opportunities.
