HEBER CITY, Utah — The Black Rock Mountain Resort is now home to the Utah Outliers, a U-20 Tier II junior hockey team. This team is utilizing the newly opened Black Rock Mountain Event Center for their games. Inspired by Malcolm Gladwell's book 'Outliers: The Story of Success,' the team aims to develop exceptional athletes competing in North America's highest levels of amateur hockey.
The Outliers roster includes players aged 17 to 20 from various countries, all focused on advancing to collegiate or professional hockey. Junior hockey serves as a crucial stepping stone for these players, representing the top tier of amateur competition.
The state-of-the-art Black Rock Mountain Event Center enhances the experience for both players and spectators. Its intimate setting allows fans to feel closely connected to the action, enjoying the excitement from the start of the game until the final horn.
The Outliers' upcoming matches include a game against the Ogden Mustangs at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Following that, they will play back-to-back games on December 29 and 30 against the Grand Junction River Hawks and Rock Springs Miners. Throughout the season, the team will face regional rivals such as the Pueblo Bulls, Casper Warbirds, and Idaho Falls Spud Kings, with all home games starting at 7:05 p.m.
The resort provides an ideal environment for fans to enjoy a complete evening around game days, with options to dine at the Overlook Restaurant, which offers locally inspired cuisine, or relax at On The Rocks Bar, known for its cocktails and casual atmosphere. The venue also features après-ski entertainment and live music throughout the season, making it an attractive destination for both hockey enthusiasts and winter sports fans.
With the Event Center now fully operational for games and other events, Black Rock Mountain Resort is positioned as a year-round hub for sports and community engagement in Park City.
