TOOELE, Utah – The holiday season, typically a time of joy and celebration, has turned into a period of profound sorrow for the Fesolai family of Tooele. Alison Fesolai, the widow of Morris Fesolai, is grappling with the unexpected loss of her husband, who tragically died in a construction accident in Wyoming on December 22. Morris Fesolai was working on a construction site when a heavy beam fell, causing fatal injuries. "It doesn’t even feel like it’s Christmas time. It feels kind of heavy right now," Alison shared, reflecting on the emotional weight that the family is carrying as they navigate this difficult period. The Fesolai family, which includes three young daughters, is now left to cope with the loss of their primary breadwinner and the emotional void left by his passing. After the accident, Morris’s body was transported back to Utah, arriving on Saturday. Alison’s sister, Sarah Camp, recounted the emotional journey of bringing Morris home, stating, "We took a Southwest flight from Wyoming back to Utah. The flight attendants and pilots allowed us to properly see Morris when we got off the plane." This small gesture offered the family a moment of closure amidst their grief. As the family mourns, unanswered questions loom over the circumstances of the accident. "The only thing that we do know is no one witnessed what happened. They heard the beam fall and found him underneath it," Camp explained, expressing the family's desire for clarity. "Are there answers there? What happened? Could it have been prevented? Are there things that can make sure this never happens again?" These questions remain at the forefront of their minds as they seek to understand the preventable nature of such tragic incidents. FOX 13 News reached out to Omega Morgan, the parent company of Intermountain Rigging and Heavy Haul (IRH), where Morris was employed at the time of his death. A representative for IRH issued a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time." The company confirmed that they reported the incident to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. The representative added that safety remains a core priority for the company, emphasizing their commitment to workplace safety as they navigate this tragic event. As the investigation continues, the family is also focused on preparing for Morris’s funeral services. Camp initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist the Fesolai family during this challenging time, noting that Morris was the primary source of income for their household. The campaign aims to help cover funeral expenses and provide financial support to Alison and their daughters as they begin to rebuild their lives without Morris. Alison expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of community support they have received, stating, "We wouldn’t be able to get through this without the love and support. The people who have reached out and came and sat with us, it’s really helped to move things forward and have that peace of mind that we can put him to rest and give him the proper service and burial that he deserves." This community solidarity has offered a glimmer of hope during an overwhelmingly dark time for the family. Reflecting on Morris’s character, Alison described him as a man who brought joy and laughter to those around him. "He was always laughing and in a good mood. He made everyone feel like they were number one," she reminisced, highlighting the profound impact he had on the lives of his loved ones. As the Fesolai family prepares to navigate the holidays without Morris, they do so with heavy hearts but also with the knowledge that they are not alone. The support from friends, family, and the community serves as a reminder of the love that surrounds them even in their darkest moments. While the future remains uncertain, the legacy of Morris Fesolai will undoubtedly continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
