PARK CITY, Utah — Park City High School Wrestling achieved a remarkable 39–36 victory against the Brighton Bengals on Thursday night during Alumni Night at PCHS. This match concluded the 2025 season on a high note for the Miners. One of the standout moments of the evening was when junior Jackson Bevans pulled off a significant upset by defeating Brighton's team captain and returning state champion Jarom Gappmayor with a 3–0 decision. This win was critical in turning the tide of the dual meet, showcasing Bevans' capability against one of the state's elite wrestlers. Park City secured six out of their seven victories through pinfall, demonstrating their prowess on the mat. The Miners initially faced a challenging start, trailing behind before rallying to claim five consecutive match victories. This turnaround not only showcased their resilience but also improved their season record to 5–1. In addition to Bevans' victory, the Miners celebrated pinfall victories from several wrestlers, including Tidus Schuster, Colin Spencer, Saul Dolores, senior and team captain Jackson Richey, Hudson Underhill, and Nikola Djunic. Collectively, these performances contributed to a thrilling win for the team and highlighted the depth of talent within the squad. Despite facing challenges from illness and injury leading up to the match, the Miners demonstrated determination and teamwork, ultimately leading to their success against a formidable Brighton team. The Park City Wrestling squad is looking forward to maintaining their momentum as they prepare for upcoming competitions. The Miners will take a brief break this week but will participate in the Best of the West tournament in Toelle on January 2-3. This tournament will present another opportunity for the team to showcase their skills and continue their strong start to the season.
