Nick Goepper Places 16th in Copper Mountain Halfpipe World Cup
Nick Goepper finishes 16th at Copper Mountain World Cup; U.S. teammates excel.

U.S. Ski Team freeskier Nick Goepper from Park City secured a 16th place finish at the Copper Mountain freeski halfpipe World Cup competition on Saturday. During the event, Goepper experienced equipment issues when his left ski detached upon landing a trick. His teammates, Alex Ferreira and Hunter Hess, achieved remarkable success, finishing in first and second places respectively. Goepper is set to compete again in the Calgary World Cup scheduled for January 1-3.
In aerial skiing, Parkite athletes Kaila Kuhn and Connor Curran, along with rookie Ashton Salwan, earned a commendable third place in the mixed team aerials competition at the Secret Garden, China, World Cup. The trio finished behind two teams from China. Individually, Parkite Quinn Dehlinger placed fifth in the men's event, while Kuhn secured seventh in the women's event on Saturday. These athletes are preparing for their next competition in Lac-Beauport, Canada, on January 6-7, 2026.
In the ski jumping category, Parkite competitors Paige Jones and Josie Johnson participated in the large hill World Cup competitions held in Engelberg, Switzerland, over the weekend. They finished in 27th and 29th places respectively on Saturday, and 35th and 22nd places on Sunday. Notably, Jones left Engelberg as the top-ranked American female ski jumper, currently sitting at 30th in the world, while Johnson is ranked 36th. Their next event will take place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, on December 30-31.
Meanwhile, Nordic combined skier Ben Loomis finished in 50th and 49th places during the individual mass start and individual Gundersen races at the Ramsau, Austria, World Cup. Loomis currently holds the 52nd position among Nordic combined skiers worldwide. He is scheduled to compete again from January 8-11 in Otepää, Estonia.
In local basketball, the Miners boys team faced a defeat against Judge Memorial Catholic, losing 72-58 on Friday, with senior Luke Rice scoring 26 points for Park City. The Miners now have a record of 4-7 and will take on Mountain View on Saturday. The Miners girls team, however, triumphed over Judge Memorial Catholic with a score of 50-47, led by Mallory Carter who contributed 11 points. The girls team now stands at 4-8, preparing for a match against Mountain View on January 2. Additionally, the Miners White hockey team concluded their regular season with a 7-0 loss to Brighton Navy, finishing the season at 0-14-1, with playoffs set to begin on January 5.
