Lindsey Vonn Clinches Two Podium Finishes in France World Cup
Lindsey Vonn achieves two podium finishes at the Val d'Isere World Cup in France, continuing her strong season.

Lindsey Vonn, the renowned American speed skier, has made a significant mark in the current World Cup season, participating in five races thus far. Over these races, she has achieved four podium finishes, with her latest accomplishments occurring at the Val d'Isere World Cup in France over the weekend. Vonn secured third place in both the downhill race on Saturday and the super-G race on Sunday.
Despite her third-place finish in downhill being a step back from her previous performance in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where she finished fourth in super-G, Vonn remains the top-ranked women's downhill skier globally after two World Cup events this season.
"I love all of this area," Vonn stated about her return to Val d'Isere, where she last competed in 2017. Throughout her career, she has won seven World Cup races at this location. Vonn reminisced about a tradition she started of keeping the cow awarded to race winners instead of opting for cash prizes.
After her podium finish, Vonn expressed her desire to improve, noting a significant mistake at the bottom of the course that cost her time. She is pleased to maintain the downhill red bib, awarded to the leading skier in each discipline, reflecting her strong performance this season.
In the super-G race, Vonn stood alongside Italy’s Sophia Goggia, who took first place, and Australia's Alice Robinson, who finished second. Vonn acknowledged the competitiveness of her peers, highlighting the healthy rivalry that enhances the sport.
As she prepares for the Milan Olympics, for which she officially qualified recently, Vonn plans to return to training to enhance her performance. She is focused on securing both Crystal Globe trophies, awarded to the top finishers in each FIS discipline.
The women's World Cup circuit will resume from January 8-11 in Zauchensee, Austria, featuring another downhill and super-G race as the season progresses toward the Olympics. Vonn emphasized the pivotal role of her knee replacement in her comeback and encouraged others to believe in their potential.
