The event, attended by family, friends, coaches, and fellow students, unfolded in the school cafeteria, which was adorned with a newly designed commitment ceremony backdrop featuring vibrant red, black, and white colors, showcasing the school’s spirit. The athletes who signed letters of intent included baseball player Joey Breza, who is set to play for Redlands University, and football players Charlie Cusimano, who will join Wesleyan University, Cole Morgan, committed to Union College, Niko Morgan, heading to Santa Monica City College, and Ben Souza, who will take his skills to Fort Lewis College. Each athlete took turns signing their commitment letters, a moment that marked not just their individual achievements but also represented the collective pride of Park City High’s athletic programs. This ceremony was the second of its kind within a week at Park City High. Just days earlier, on Friday, track and field athlete Sierra Darling had committed to Yale, while football player Tanner Pidwell chose Dartmouth, and volleyball player Sabine Smith signed with MIT. The back-to-back events highlight a flourishing athletic environment at Park City High, showcasing the school’s ability to nurture talent across various sports. During the event, each athlete shared insights about their college choices and the significance of the ceremony. Niko Morgan, who will attend Santa Monica City College, expressed his enthusiasm: "It’s a nice school with great statistics and an awesome coaching staff that truly believes in me. I think it’s going to be a great fit for my academic and athletic aspirations." Likewise, Souza, who will play at Fort Lewis College, noted the supportive environment he experienced during his visit: "The coaching staff is great. They seem experienced and are currently rebuilding the program, which I find exciting." Breza, who is looking forward to his senior baseball season, was equally enthusiastic about his choice: "When I visited Redlands University, the campus blew me away. The facilities are top-notch, and I felt a great connection with the coaching staff. I’m excited to contribute and grow there." Cusimano, who is headed to Wesleyan University, echoed similar sentiments about the program’s recent success: "Wesleyan just came off a NESCAC Championship, so I’m excited to build on that legacy and take advantage of the great academic resources available." The emotional weight of the ceremony was palpable, as each athlete reflected on the meaning of committing in front of their loved ones. Morgan shared, "It’s a tremendous feeling to get this process over with. Playing at the next level has always been a dream of mine, and doing it in front of my family and friends makes it even more special." Souza added, "Being able to sign in front of my community, friends, and family was an awesome experience. I felt the support of everyone who has helped me along the way." Cole Morgan, who faced injuries during the previous season, appreciated the community’s support: "It’s incredible to see everyone come out for me today. The community has been there for me through everything, and being able to sign in front of them means a lot. It shows how much the Park City program and my teammates have supported my journey." The athletes also commented on what their commitments signify for Park City High’s athletic programs. Niko Morgan stated, "Signing alongside my teammates today is a testament to how our program pushes athletes to reach their potential. Coaches like Josh Monzingo have been instrumental in our development, and I’m grateful for their guidance." Breza reflected on the collective achievements of the baseball program, saying, "This ceremony demonstrates that Park City baseball produces strong athletes. I believe we’ll have a great team moving forward, and I’m excited for my final season here." In conclusion, this commitment ceremony not only celebrates individual achievements but also underscores the dedication and hard work put forth by the athletes, coaches, and the entire Park City community. As these athletes embark on their next chapters, they carry with them the legacy of excellence fostered at Park City High, inspiring future generations of athletes to pursue their dreams on and off the field.
