A four-year-old girl named Delilah Grove from Eagle Mountain is currently battling leukemia and has found support from the Valley Boys under-11 baseball team from Richmond during the NixonStrong tournament. This initiative aims to help children fighting cancer and has fostered a strong bond between Delilah and the team. Delilah was diagnosed with leukemia in 2024 and has several months of treatment remaining as she works toward recovery. Her mother, Alexis, shared that Delilah has been hospitalized for overnight stays numerous times and is currently undergoing daily chemotherapy at home. Despite being immunocompromised and facing health challenges, Delilah remains resilient and has not complained throughout her ordeal. Recently, Delilah developed a passion for dancing and enrolled in dance classes. However, she fell ill shortly before her dance recital, leaving uncertainty about her performance. Fortunately, she recovered in time to take the stage, and having the team as her cheering squad made the event even more special for her. The players on the Valley Boys team, whom Delilah affectionately refers to as 'my baseball boys,' have actively participated in her journey. They have enjoyed spending time with her, allowing her to paint their nails and even participating in baseball activities together. Alexis noted that the team traveled over two hours to support Delilah at her dance recital, showcasing their commitment to her well-being. The boys expressed their desire to support Delilah because they consider her their friend. They view her as a mascot for their team and cherish the connection they have built. Delilah's smile lights up when she receives videos from the team, assuring her they are praying for her recovery.
