Two new outbreaks were reported just days after the U.S. ordered nearly 30,000 turkeys to be euthanized for testing positive for the disease. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) said the cases were found in a flock of commercial broiler chickens in Fulton County, Kentucky, and in a backyard flock of mixed-species birds in Fauquier County, Virginia.
