A new tradition in Vineyard, Utah involves families competing to steal holiday inflatables, creating lasting memories.
In Vineyard, Utah, a unique holiday tradition has emerged that involves stealing inflatable decorations. This spirited game involves children and their parents vying for possession of a Baby Yoda inflatable, with the goal of keeping it until 9 a.m. on December 26th. According to neighbor Chantel Amone, the inflatable has changed hands multiple times, with the group having gone through six different inflatables already. When one inflatable gets damaged during a heist, participants simply switch to another, like the popular Baby Yoda.
Haven Roney shared an experience where the first inflatable was securely nailed into the ground, which led to an unsuccessful attempt by her father to retrieve it, resulting in a tear and a switch to another inflatable. At the time of the report, the Goddard family was in possession of the inflatable, experiencing early morning visits from fellow neighbors eager to claim it. Troy Goddard mentioned sleeping on the porch to protect their inflatable and even setting up makeshift traps to deter thieves.
For a span of 36 hours, stealing the inflatable is encouraged, provided that parents supervise the activities. The community welcomes the chaos that ensues in their front yards. Children have described the experience as both fun and challenging, a sentiment echoed by the adults involved. Ryley Roney noted the unexpected nature of the events, recalling how he found himself climbing on a car to retrieve an inflatable from a roof.
The competition has sparked a quest for the title of 'Greatest of All Time' in the Hampton Neighborhood, with the winner receiving a trophy and bragging rights for the entire year. This playful tradition aims to create lasting memories for the families involved, as expressed by Amone, who hopes the children will fondly remember these inflatable-snatching adventures in the years to come.
