PARK CITY, Utah – The Velvet Room, a new and captivating lounge, has made its debut beneath The Cabin on Park City’s bustling Main Street. Launched on December 10 by hospitality expert Bryce Clarke, this winter pop-up seeks to redefine the nightlife experience in a city known for its bustling bars. By offering an intimate, lounge-centered ambiance, the Velvet Room differentiates itself from the more crowded options prevalent in the area. Clarke, who boasts an impressive background in hospitality spanning over two decades, drew inspiration for the Velvet Room from his personal journey. Initially visiting Park City for a quiet Christmas, he was unexpectedly charmed by the community’s warmth while mingling with locals at various bars. “I realized there was a unique sense of connection here that I hadn’t experienced before,” he explained. His vision became clearer when he decided to make Park City his permanent home after years working on luxury cruise ships and with the renowned Tao Group in Las Vegas. After relocating and intending to take a winter break, Clarke seized the opportunity to collaborate with The Cabin’s owners to design the Velvet Room. The space has been transformed into an inviting hideaway featuring plush seating, warm lighting, and, as the name suggests, abundant velvet. A central stage in the lounge area plays host to live music, tailored for a unique audience experience, while a separate, intimate area is reserved for members seeking privacy. Music plays a pivotal role in the Velvet Room’s identity, with events varying throughout the week to cater to diverse tastes. For example, Wednesdays feature the vibrant “Sessions” event where rotating musicians perform familiar songs and engaging originals, attracting an enthusiastic crowd. Thursdays spotlight a jazz and soul theme, while weekends are highlighted by a resident cabaret performer sharing the stage with a DJ to amplify the lively atmosphere. By focusing on the local community, Clarke aims to create a sophisticated yet accessible environment that avoids the late-night crowds typical of Main Street. He remarked, “Many locals prefer a venue that allows them to enjoy a refined experience without staying out too late.” The Velvet Room currently operates without a cover charge, though this is set to change in January as demand grows. Memberships, available on a weekly or seasonal basis, offer exclusive benefits, including guaranteed entry and priority seating during peak times. Clarke elaborated, “I designed this membership model specifically for locals, ensuring that they receive quality service without the hassle of long lines.” Currently, no formal dress code is enforced, yet Clarke believes the setting naturally attracts an appropriate clientele. Collaborating with luxury brands such as Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne reinforces the lounge’s high-end focus, featuring a carefully curated cocktail menu and light bites to enhance the overall experience. While the Velvet Room remains a seasonal pop-up, Clarke is already contemplating an extension or the possibility of securing a permanent location, reiterating, “This was meant as a proof of concept. If it resonates with the community, we intend to find a lasting space for it.” For now, he continues to focus on delivering a memorable experience, one evening at a time. “We’re not after high volume,” Clarke concluded, “We’re here to build something sustainable and meaningful.”
