The Summit County and Park City Green Business Program recently celebrated the businesses that achieved certification in 2025. This recognition follows a significant two-year redevelopment and expansion initiative aimed at enhancing the program’s framework. A strategic planning process was executed to align the program with evolving sustainability standards and community needs. Earlier this year, the revamped program introduced a redesigned website, providing an interactive platform for local businesses to engage in the updated certification process. Since the program's soft launch in January, 13 businesses have successfully earned certification under the new criteria. Participants in the Green Business Program have demonstrated a firm commitment to sustainability, showcasing leadership in their respective fields. The certification process focuses on five critical areas: energy, water, materials and waste, transportation, and community and equity. These sectors are essential for establishing a holistic approach to environmentally responsible business practices. The program recognized businesses at two certification levels: Silver and Bronze. Among the Silver-level recipients are the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, fulFILLed, Savoury Kitchen, and Park City Library. Bronze-level certifications were awarded to Done to Your Taste Catering and Events, Le Depot Brasserie, Park City Community Foundation, POW Therapy, Alpine Apothecary, the Residences at the Utah Olympic Park, Summit County Health Department, Chesley Electric, and Basin Recreation. To qualify for certification, businesses must implement a selection of over 200 sustainable actions. Each action comes with detailed instructions and resources to facilitate the enhancement of business operations towards sustainability. The actions are evaluated based on their difficulty and potential impact, with certification levels determined by the total points accrued through these initiatives. In addition to the updated website, the Green Business Program organizes quarterly Lunch and Learn sessions aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among local businesses. The upcoming seminar will focus on sustainable transportation, inviting interested parties to register online. A comprehensive list of certified businesses is available on the program's online directory. For further information about the Green Business Program, visit the website at parkcitygreen.org.
