PARK CITY, Utah — As 2025 concludes, the Summit County | Park City Green Business Program is celebrating a significant year of growth and dedication to local sustainability initiatives. The program has undergone a two-year redevelopment, culminating in a redesigned website and an updated certification process that launched earlier this year. This new platform is more robust and accessible, encouraging businesses across Summit County to participate. Since January, 13 businesses have successfully attained Green Business certification under the revamped program. Program organizers report that these businesses have shown a commitment to sustainability and community leadership by implementing measurable actions in key areas, including energy, water, materials and waste, transportation, and community equity. The following businesses received recognition in 2025: Silver certification was awarded to Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, fulFILLed, Savoury Kitchen, and Park City Library. Bronze certification went to Done to Your Taste Catering and Events, Le Depot Brasserie, Park City Community Foundation, POW Therapy, Alpine Apothecary, Residences at the Utah Olympic Park, Summit County Health Department, Chesley Electric, and Basin Recreation. To achieve certification, businesses can choose from over 200 sustainability actions, with each action accompanied by detailed guidance and resources. Actions are evaluated based on their impact and difficulty, and certification levels are assigned according to the total points accrued. The program's updated online platform, launched at Recycle Utah’s Green Drinks event in January, allows businesses to monitor their progress, access tools, and benchmark their initiatives. Initially established by Recycle Utah eight years ago, the Green Business Program has expanded through collaborations with Park City Municipal, Summit County, the Park City Community Foundation, and the Park City Chamber of Commerce. In addition to certification, the program has prioritized peer learning and collaboration through quarterly Lunch and Learn events in 2025. These sessions aim to enhance business education on various topics, including workforce wellbeing and sustainable transportation, and are available at no cost to Summit County businesses and employees.
