A couple in Salt Lake City is illuminating the holiday season with their 'Unite and Light' light display, which aims to support local nonprofits. Each night, from 6 to 10 p.m., the display dazzles visitors on Michigan Avenue. This marks the third year that the Teerlink family has organized the event, which features 31 Sycamore trees adorned with 5,000 to 6,000 lights each. Chelsea Teerlink explained that the idea stemmed from a desire to showcase their beautiful trees, leading her husband to suggest lighting them up. Initially, some neighbors were skeptical about the project, but the display has since gained community support and attracted hundreds of visitors nightly. The light show is free to attend, but it also serves a charitable purpose. Donations collected during the display benefit two local organizations: Alliance House, which focuses on voluntary mental health support, and Neighborhood House, a nonprofit offering affordable daycare and child support services. Throughout the display, QR codes are available for visitors to scan and contribute to these charities. The event has become a festive highlight for many families in the area, providing a beautiful backdrop for holiday activities. The lights will continue to shine until Christmas Day, encouraging both locals and visitors to experience the festive atmosphere. For those unable to attend in person, additional information about donations and support for the nonprofits can be found on the Unite and Light website.
