As the winter season unfolds in the picturesque mountain town of Park City, the community reflects on the importance of support and care for its senior population. Elizabeth I. Novack, who has served as the president of Park City Senior Citizens Inc. for the past two years, announced her decision to step down from her leadership position on New Year's Day. Her tenure has been marked by a commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors through various programs and initiatives that foster connection, education, and well-being among the 700 members of the organization. "It has been a privilege and honor to serve in this capacity, and I am humbled by the opportunity to work, learn, and laugh with a community filled with resolute, enthusiastic, and kind people who care about our senior population," Novack expressed in her farewell address. Her leadership has been characterized by a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by seniors in Park City, as well as a genuine passion for creating a supportive environment where they can thrive. The Park City Senior Center, a cornerstone of the community, has provided a safe, loving, and active space for seniors to engage in a variety of educational, nutritional, social, and physical activities. Novack emphasized the importance of this center, noting, "Our goal is to provide a variety of creative, physical, and social activities, as well as interaction and advocacy with the larger community." Under her guidance, the organization has pursued ambitious goals, including the development of a new senior center, the hiring of additional dedicated staff, and extending operational days to better serve the needs of its members. While stepping down was a significant decision, Novack expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit that has defined her presidency. "This would not be possible without a collaborative and caring group of individuals who collectively make our aspirations a reality. Thank you for being an instrumental part of 'our village,'" she remarked, highlighting the collective effort of board members, volunteers, and community partners. The Park City Senior Citizens Inc. Board of Directors, under the guidance of incoming leadership, remains steadfast in its mission to enrich the lives of individuals over 60. The board is committed to ensuring that the Senior Center continues to be a critical and vital service in the community. Executive Director Trason Dixon, who will take on an expanded role in the organization, is equally dedicated to fulfilling this mission and enhancing the center’s offerings. Dixon noted that the focus will remain on addressing the diverse needs of seniors, promoting health and wellness, and encouraging active participation in community life. "We believe it is our responsibility to take care of each other, and as we move forward, we will ensure that the Senior Center remains a place where seniors can connect, learn, and feel valued," he stated. In light of the transition in leadership, the organization is actively encouraging community members to engage with the new board and staff.
