PARK CITY, Utah — As the wrestling season approaches its conclusion, the Park City High School Miners wrestling team is gearing up for an intense postseason following a series of competitive matches at home. The team has exhibited resilience and skill, highlighted by notable performances that have set the stage for the upcoming divisional and state tournaments. Earlier this month, the Miners faced off against Highland High School in a thrilling dual meet that showcased the depth of talent within the team. In a nail-biting finish, Park City clinched victory with a score of 38-37, thanks to a decisive win by junior wrestler Trace Bonilla in the final match. Bonilla's performance not only secured the win for his team but also exemplified the competitive spirit that has become a hallmark of the Miners wrestling program. The following weekend, the Miners traveled to Farmington to compete in the Rockwood Rumble, one of the most prestigious wrestling tournaments in the Western United States. This event attracts top-tier competitors from various states, providing a challenging environment for all participants. While the competition was fierce, Bonilla emerged as the only placer for PCHS, finishing in eighth place in the JV Heavyweight bracket. The Miners celebrated Senior Night during their final home dual against Murray High School, a match that drew a significant crowd of supporters, including family, friends, teachers, and school administrators. Laura Richey, a parent of one of the athletes, expressed her pride in the team’s performance and the turnout from the community, stating, “We had a great turnout, with lots of families, students, teachers and administrators coming to cheer on the team and seniors.” Throughout the match, Park City’s senior wrestlers stepped up, each winning their respective duals, further underscoring their importance to the team.
