Park City has initiated the Emergent Community Needs Grant Program to provide financial assistance to local nonprofits facing urgent challenges. Grants can go up to $15,000, ensuring organizations can adapt swiftly and effectively to changing needs in the community.
PARK CITY, Utah — The city of Park City has opened applications for the Emergent Community Needs Grant Program, a financial initiative aimed at assisting local nonprofits in addressing immediate, unforeseen challenges. This grant program is designed to provide prompt support for organizations needing to adapt quickly to pressing issues or to pilot new solutions before a situation escalates.
As outlined in the city’s guidelines, each award can reach up to $15,000, which can be used for expenditures not typically covered under an organization’s regular operating budget. This includes costs associated with launching new services, temporarily increasing capacity to meet a surge in demand, solving unexpected urgent needs, or implementing strategies to tackle emerging challenges.
Applications for the grants are accepted throughout the year, contingent upon the availability of funding. The Nonprofit Services Advisory Committee reviews submissions quarterly, making recommendations to the Park City Council, which has the final authority on grant approvals. In urgent scenarios, the committee may hold special meetings to evaluate requests that cannot wait until the next scheduled review.
The first quarterly review for the year 2026 is set for January 14, with applications due by December 30, 2025. Additional review dates for the year will be April 8, July 15, and October 15, with submission deadlines generally two weeks prior to each meeting.
To qualify for these grants, nonprofits must meet Park City’s criteria for public service funding. They must provide services that benefit Park City residents or the local workforce, with their proposals aligning with the city’s definition of an emergent community need. This initiative represents a concerted effort by the city to ensure that nonprofit organizations are equipped to respond effectively to the community's most pressing challenges.
Local nonprofits are encouraged to carefully review the grant guidelines and submit their applications through the city’s website in order to leverage available funding and address immediate needs efficiently.
