The FIS has announced a thrilling lineup of Para Alpine races leading into the new year, building excitement ahead of the Winter Paralympic Games in Milano Cortina. This season features eight stops across Europe, drawing some of the world's top athletes to legendary slopes, where they will refine their skills with higher stakes than ever. Each event throughout the season will play a critical role in qualification for the upcoming Games, creating a sense of urgency as athletes prepare. The opening event took place in Steinach, Austria, from December 10 to 12, featuring a blend of technical slopes and high-speed runs, which proved popular among competitors. This well-maintained location has a history of hosting World Cup events and served as an ideal starting point for an exciting season. Next, the competition moves to the iconic slopes of Santa Caterina in Italy, where races are scheduled from December 15 to 17. Known for its steep and challenging course, this venue debuted in the World Cup last season, providing an exhilarating experience for participants. American athlete Kelsey O'Driscoll, part of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Para Alpine Team based in Park City, recently secured a podium position, showcasing her skills on the international stage. The final stop of the year will be in St. Moritz, Switzerland, from December 19 to 21, before the athletes take a break for the holidays. St. Moritz is renowned for its world-class facilities and has a rich history of hosting major international competitions, making it an ideal location to prepare for the upcoming Games. As 2026 approaches, skiers will return to Austria, specifically Saalbach, from January 12 to 17. This reliable host offers a variety of courses to challenge competitors as they ramp up their preparations for the Paralympics. On January 22 and 23, the World Cup will stop in Feldberg, Germany, where the designated World Cup course promises an electrifying atmosphere. Following this, Méribel in France will hold its first-ever World Cup event from January 26 to 30, showcasing the legendary Corbey racecourse. Athletes will then head to Tignes for another French stop from February 2 to 6. The penultimate event will occur in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, on February 9 and 10, providing one last opportunity for athletes to secure their qualifications before the Paralympics. Finally, the Winter Paralympic Games will take place in Milano Cortina from March 4 to 15, 2026, where qualified athletes will compete on the world stage.
