Lindsey Vonn of the Stifel U.S. Ski Team secured her place on the World Cup podium in super-G on Sunday, achieving a significant milestone in her comeback at the Val d’Isère venue. This podium finish marks her 142nd in her illustrious career. Vonn finished in third place, trailing behind Sofia Goggia of Italy, who took first, and Alice Robinson of New Zealand, who finished second. Vonn demonstrated her competitive edge by skiing aggressively on the long and challenging super-G track, maintaining speed in the gliding sections, and executing precise technical turns. Her strong performance early in the race solidified her position on the podium despite tough winter conditions faced by all competitors. Vonn expressed her satisfaction with her performance, stating, "I was skiing with aggression and I was dynamic, and that’s what I’m looking for. Four times on the podium in five races. I couldn’t really be any happier." This podium finish continues to build her momentum as she prepares for future competitions. Vonn's success was complemented by solid performances from her teammates, Keely Cashman and Tricia Mangan, who finished in 11th and 24th places, respectively. Cashman noted her excitement about starting the race in bib one, a first for her, and emphasized the importance of taking advantage of her starting position given the warm conditions. The women's speed team will now enjoy some well-deserved family time during the holidays before returning to competition in January for the Zauchensee races. Vonn's continued presence on the podium highlights her determination and skill as she looks forward to upcoming challenges in her skiing career.
